THUNDER BAY — The City of Thunder Bay has issued an update on how Wednesday's snowstorm has affected recreation facilities and programs.

City arenas, the Canada Games Complex and the Volunteer Pool remain open.

However, some programming may be affected if staff are unable to get to work due to bad road conditions.

Closed facilities include the Jumbo Gardens and Vale Community Centres and the Water Garden Pavilion, while the 55 Plus Centre and West Arthur Community Centre were closed early.

Neighbourhood recreation programs at the Kinsmen Youth Centre were cancelled.

The Youth Inclusion Program continued with neighbourhood youth programs, but the city said they might close early depending on attendance.

Elsewhere, the Thunder District Social Services Administration Board closed its city and Kakabeka Falls offices at 2 p.m.

It advised anyone who missed their appointments Wednesday to contact their worker on Thursday to reschedule.

Maintenance appointments at TBDSSAB housing properties will also be rescheduled.

The social services board said tenants with a maintenance emergency should call the maintenance dispatch line at 807-766-4777 or 1-877-281-2958.
