THUNDER BAY — Ontario's Special Investigations unit is looking into a recent incident in Thunder Bay in which a youth was allegedly injured during an interaction with city police.

The complaint stems from an occurrence in the River Terrace area on Sept. 7.

According to an SIU statement issued Wednesday, Thunder Bay Police Service officers were dispatched to a residence after a report of a domestic incident.

At the scene, they arrested a 17-year-old female and transported her to the police station.

She was released the following day, but on Sept. 9 she contacted police alleging that she had suffered a serious injury.

The SIU has assigned two investigators to the case.

It's urging anyone who may have information about the incident, including video or photos, to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529 or online.
