THUNDER BAY — Monday is shaping up to start off with potentially damaging wind in the Thunder Bay area.
Environment Canada issued a Special Weather Statement Sunday afternoon, saying wind speeds in the morning could reach 80 km/h.
It said strong northwesterly wind gusts are expected to develop near or before dawn in the city and in other areas near western Lake Superior and Lake Nipigon, and may last several hours before slowly diminishing towards noon.
The wind will have the potential to toss loose objects around, break branches off trees and cause power outages.
