Spring weather outlook looks promising for NW Ontario

The long-range weather forecast points to a mild spring in the Thunder Bay area.

THUNDER BAY -- Thunder Bay and area residents may be enjoying above-average temperatures through spring and right up until summer at least.

Environment Canada's more immediate weather outlook for the city calls for daytime highs several degrees above normal, from this Friday until Tuesday.

Meteorologist Mark Schuster says the longer-range forecast is also promising.

"The month of April will likely, as a whole, be above normal as well," he said, while cautioning that at this time of year it will remain possible to get significant snow even into May.

Looking to May and June, however, Schuster said "there is an indication that temperatures will continue to be above normal" around Thunder Bay.

Precipitation is more challenging to predict than temperatures, he said, and at this point there isn't a strong signal as to whether it's going to be a wet spring or a dry spring in the Lakehead area.
