THUNDER BAY – Kelly Brodie has one big reason to enjoy summer a little more this year.
Brodie was the grand prize winner of the St. John Ambulance spring into summer lottery, coming away with the nearly $40,000 travel trailer after the draw was held Friday afternoon.
St. John Ambulance executive director Diana Sustawenko said the event is expected to bring in about $46,000.
“This is our biggest fundraiser of the year,” she said. “It goes right back into our community service programs like our therapy dog program, medical first response program, our school programs and our youth program.”
Tickets had been available for only $10, an affordable price which Sustawenko believes makes the campaign so successful.
The other winners were Sandra Tenttoeve, who won a pair of kayaks, and Sylvia Nordstrom, who was the winner of one return trip to any WestJet destination.
