THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay North Stars know how to throw a party.

The Superior International Junior Hockey League club, riding a six-game win streak and finally set to hit home ice after starting the 2024-25 campaign with eight straight on the road, are throwing out all the stops for Friday’s home opener.

The Stars have invited local musical sensations, the Lockyer Boys, fresh off a show at the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium, to perform during the pregame ceremony. They’ve also invited all local minor hockey teams to come to the game, free of charge, complete with pizza for all the players.

“It’s a community builder event,” said Stars director of corporate sales, Mike Tallari.

“Young ones are often nervous and intimidated, so this is a chance to meet new friends and bond with their coaches.”

Adding to the fun, the Stars will host the Kam River Fighting Walleye, their biggest rivals.

Game time is 7:30 p.m. at Fort William Gardens.
