WATERLOO, Ont. -- The playoffs were a distant dream when the Lakehead Thunderwolves stumbled into the Christmas break with six straight losses.

The playoffs are still no sure thing, but a five-game winning streak that's pulled the T-Wolves to within a game of .500 means it's still a possibility.

Nathan Bilamu scored 23 points, Chris Sagl added 22 and Tyler Sagl and Harold Santacruz each had 19 as the LU starters scored all but one of the Thunderwolves points on Friday night in an 87-77 road win over the Waterloo Warriors.

The lone point from the bench came on a Jonathan Goode free throw.

Lakehead took a 40-33 lead into halftime, but a 28-19 run by the Warriors in the third gave them a two-point lead after 30 minutes.

Chris Sagle scored nine points and added three assists in the final frame and Bilamu added eight points, the Thunderwolves outscoring the Warriors 28-16 in the final frame to secure the win.

The victory leaves Lakehead in 11th place in the OUA standings, at 7-8, half a game behind both McMaster and Brock, who will play a pair next weekend at the Thunderdrome.

the Thunderwolves will take on No. 5 Laurier (11-2) on Saturday.
