THUNDER BAY — One firefighter was hurt while working to extinguish a fire on the south side of Thunder Bay on Tuesday afternoon.
In a news release, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue described the injury as minor, but said the individual was taken to hospital for evaluation.
The structural fire was reported at about 1 pm in the 100 block of Bethune Street.
Crews arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the rear of the building, but they made quick entry and applied water to bring the blaze under control.
All occupants had already left the building before firefighters arrived.
A total of six pumpers, an aerial ladder and a command unit responded to the call.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue issued a reminder to the public to ensure all smoke detectors are in working order at all times.
