THUNDER BAY — Thunder Bay Transit reported delays on various routes across the system Tuesday in the midst of an intense snowstorm.
One bus became stuck on the John Street hill near High Street, forcing the closure of the road until the bus could be moved with the assistance of a tow truck.
A spokesperson for Thunder Bay Transit, told Newswatch that while buses were running behind schedule, the length of the delays varied depending on the route.
Environment Canada issued a travel advisory for the area, due to the arrival of an Alberta Clipper predicted to dump up to 15 cm on the city.
It said snowfall would be heavy at times before tapering off to flurries late in the day and overnight.
By mid-afternoon, 16 cm of snow had fallen at Thunder Bay Airport, but some residents of other parts of the city reported accumulations of well over 20 cm.
As of 2:00 pm, Thunder Bay Police had been called to investigate 15 motor vehicle collisions since 6:00 a.m.
