Students in younger grades required to wear masks

State-of-emergency declaration extends mask-wearing requirement to children in grades 1 to 3.

THUNDER BAY – Younger students will have to wear a mask while taking the bus to school and in the classroom.

Under the province’s state-of-emergency orders, students in Grade 1 to Grade 3 are affected by the change. It’s also recommended that kindergarten students also wear a mask on the bus and in class – though it’s not required.

Students in grades 4 to 12 were already required to wear a mask on school buses and during in-person instruction in the classroom.

Enhanced screening protocols will also be in place.
