KAKABEKA — Members of the OPP spent Saturday afternoon in Kakabeka, with hope to leave in a stuffed cruiser.
OPP staff gathered together for the Stuff a Cruiser event that is held each year, typically in December.
“OPP is helping to support the rural food bank. It is February, however, we were set up in December and got cancelled due to the weather, so this was the next day that we could all get together and help them out,” said Const. Jodi Dow.
At Odena food store, the crew set up and accepted dry food donations and monetary donations.
Dow said any donation is welcomed.
“OPP likes to help support the community, and be in a rural area. It is our community as well, anytime that we can help out we will.
This year is Dow’s third time participating in the Stuff a Cruiser event for the OPP in Kakabeka.
“In policing, I've done numerous Stuff a Cruiser events. It just feels great to get out and support the community and help them out. I think the community like to see us out here as well,” she said.
Anyone who donates can fill out a ballot for prizes the food bank is giving away, Dow said.
“We also have some fun stuff for the kids that we're giving away when we see them here. It's great to give back to the community.”
Even after the Stuff a Cruiser event is over, donations are accepted at Odena Foods during regular business hours.
Members of the public can also get in touch with the Rural Food Bank office which is set up at the Conmee Community Centre.
Members of the OPP will be at Odena Foods from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
