THUNDER BAY — Thunder Bay Police have arrested a suspect after a pair of businesses were broken into over the weekend.
In a media release issued on Tuesday, police confirmed that they made the arrest after a brief foot chase early Saturday morning.
Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Arthur Street West around 7 a.m. after receiving reports of a break-in.
A window had been smashed by the suspect to gain entry to one business. Restaurant management at Norteños Taqueria confirmed it was their south-side location.
An adjacent business was also damaged by the suspect said police.
The suspect was quickly located and fled on foot but was quickly and arrested.
A 26-year-old has been charged with two counts of break and enter to commit an indictable offence, mischief over $5,000, mischief under $5,000, obstructing a peace officer, theft under $5,000 and false alarm of fire.
The accused appeared in court over the weekend and has been released from custody with conditions and a future appearance date.
