Suspect charged after Bay Street firearms incident

A 48-year-old male was taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon at an Amelia Street address.

THUNDER BAY — A 48-year-old man has been arrested after a firearms incident on Jan. 17.

Police responded to a report of an assault and a firearm being discharged in the 200 block of Bay Street.

The investigation led to a suspect being identified and on Wednesday; police descended on a residence in the 200 block of Amelia Street West and arrested a suspect.

The accused was charged with assault with a weapon, careless use of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, pointing a firearm, possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition and five counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.

The accused appeared in court and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
