Suspected explosives removed from home

THUNDER BAY - Thunder Bay police have removed suspected explosives from a south end home. Nearby residents were advised not to leave their homes for their safety while the material was removed with the assistance of the OPP.

Thunder Bay police say they were alerted to potential explosives located at a residential address in the 700s block of Catherine Street just after 5 p.m. Monday. Police contained the surrounding area and say the materials were removed without incident. Area residents are no longer required to stay in their homes.

No charges have yet been announced in connection with the incident, but police say an investigation is ongoing.
