THUNDER BAY — A man faces multiple charges including dangerous driving and impaired driving after an incident Monday afternoon in Thunder Bay.

Police said a member of the Thunder Bay Police Service's traffic unit was on patrol when he observed a vehicle being driven over 70 km/h in a community safety zone where the legal limit is 40 km/h.

He then tracked the same vehicle being driven at nearly 90 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.

When the officer pulled the vehicle over the driver provided an identity that ended up being false.

Once his identity was confirmed, it was learned he was wanted on a warrant and had six different driving prohibitions.

The 30-year-old was arrested on a variety of charges including breach of probation, and was remanded into custody after an initial court appearance.

The vehicle he was driving will also be impounded for 45 days.
