Suspicious death in Couchiching First Nation under investigation

OPP say a 41-year-old Big Grassy First Nation man is dead and three others were injured in Christmas Day incident.

COUCHICHING FIRST NATION -- A suspicious Christmas Day death in Couchiching First Nation death is under investigation after a report of a domestic assault with a weapon.

Ontario Provincial Police, called in by Treaty Three Police, are looking into the death of 41-year-old Randall Morrison of Big Grassy First Nation. The OPP said they responded to a Rainy Lake Boulevard residence, where police found three victims with superficial injuries and an unresponsive 41-year-old, who was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Treaty Three Police, with the assistance of the Rainy River District OPP and the OPP's criminal investigation branch, are looking into the circumstances surrounding the death.

The office of the chief coroner is also involved.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place in Toronto this week to help identify the cause of death.
