THUNDER BAY — A fire has destroyed a home in the 300 block of Merrill Street in Current River.
Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue responded just after midnight on Monday, using multiple pumpers to control the blaze.
Crews encountered heavy smoke inside and out of the home.
The fire was knocked down and put under control by firefighters who fended off damage to other homes.
Crews searched the home and confirmed there was no one home at the time of the fire.
It's believed the fire started on the main floor of the residence.
The cause of the fire is considered suspicious and is under investigation.
