SUV destroyed after transport truck blows stop sign at Sistonen's Corner

A passenger vehicle was wrecked, but nobody was seriously injured in Monday's collision

THUNDER BAY — A collision that wrecked a passenger vehicle at the intersection of Highway 11/17 and Highway 102 has led to OPP charging the driver of a transport truck.

The incident occurred just before 1:00 pm Monday at Sistonen's Corner.

Police say the driver of a westbound transport truck on Highway 102 failed to obey a stop sign and proceeded across both lanes of Highway 11/17 just as an eastbound SUV was approaching.

A surveillance camera captured the collision which damaged the SUV beyond repair but resulted in no major injuries to either of the two occupants, according to OPP.

A 40-year-old Calgary man faces a charge of careless driving.
