THUNDER BAY — An attestation ceremony was held at a Thunder Bay sea cadet corps to enrol an individual into the Canadian Armed Forces on March 5.

An attestation is required by every serving member of the Canadian Armed Forces, where they accept their duties to the King under oath.

This is the final piece of the enrollment process.

Under the command of Lieutenant (Navy) Lorne Clifford, Commanding Officer of the Fort William Sea Cadet Corps, the sea cadets had a display called Ceremonial Divisions, which was followed by the attestation of Abagail Rogers into the Canadian Armed Forces.

Now possessing the officer rank of Naval Cadet, Rogers will serve with the Cadet Instructor Cadre (CIC), where she will specifically provide support to the Fort William Sea Cadet Corps in Thunder Bay.

Fort William Sea Cadets is a free program for youths ages 12 to 18. They meet every Wednesday night from 6:15 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. at Pope John Paul II school on 205 S Franklin St.

Youths interested in joining can register by emailing Civilian Instructor Andrei Rosario at [email protected] or dropping in during the meeting nights.
