THUNDER BAY — Sweet Cream brand mini pastries have issued food recall warnings in several regions across Canada, including Ontario.

This recall follows an outbreak of Salmonella infections linked to the pastries.

The illness reporting period for this outbreak is between 16 and 41 days.

As of Sunday, Ontario has already had 21 cases of illness.

Of the total cases reported, 17 people were also hospitalized.

The Public Health Agency of Canada warns the public not to consume, use, sell, serve or distribute the recalled mini pastries.

It also noted that products were distributed to bakeries, hotels, restaurants, cafeterias, hospitals, retirement residences and catered events.

The outbreak's investigation is still ongoing.

Residents seeking more information on the recalled products are encouraged to consult the Canadian Food Inspection Agency recall notice on the Government of Canada Recalls and Safety Alerts website.

The public health notice will be updated as the investigation evolves.
