T-Wolves doubled up at home by Ottawa

Olivier Pouliot scored twice, but it wasn't enough in Lakehead's 4-2 home-ice loss.

THUNDER BAY — The Ottawa Gee-Gees were a little too much for the Lakehead Thunderwolves to handle on Friday night.

Bradley Chenier scored the winner 6:49 into the second and Charles-Antoine Roy added an empty netter with four seconds to play in the game and the Gee-Gees doubled up the Thunderwolves 4-2 at Fort William Gardens, where 2,625 fans took in the contest.

Olivier Pouliot had both Thunder Bay goals, giving him three in two nights, the two tallies coming in the first, four minutes apart, after Ottawa had staked itself to a 2-0 lead on goals by Vincent Maisonneuve and Andrew Belchamber.

Carson Cherepak took the loss in nets, making 32 saves on 35 shots, while Zach Dietz picked up the win, making 30 saves for Ottawa.

Lakehead welcomes Brock to the Gardens next weekend, the T-Wolves final home games of 2024-25 before the playoffs.

The Thunderwolves will be displaced for much of February because of the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, which get under way on Feb. 14.
