T-Wolves dumped from OUA men's basketball playoffs

Lakehead climbed to within four late in the fourth quarter, but ultimately lost by 11 to Ontario Tech.

OSHAWA, Ont. – It was a short playoff run for the Lakehead Thunderwolves men’s basketball team.

The T-Wolves travelled to Oshawa on Wednesday to take on the No. 9 Ontario Tech Ridgebacks, but despite a furious comeback attempt in the fourth quarter, fell short, dropping an 89-78 decision

The loss eliminated Lakehead from the one-and-done OUA playoffs.

Harold Santacruz led the T-Wolves with 24 points and Chris Sagl put up 20.

Zubair Seyed and Keon Baker each scored 19 for Ontario Tech, making the first playoff appearance in team history.

Ayub Nurhussien had 17 and grabbed 11 rebounds for the double-double. The Ridgebacks will take on Toronto on Saturday in the OUA quarterfinal round.

In other action, Brock knocked off Carleton 70-67, McMaster beat out Toronto Metropolitan 74-67 and Laurier nipped York 78-72.
