T-Wolves eliminated from playoff contention

Varsity Blues win for just the second time this season.

THUNDER BAY – The Lakehead Thunderwolves women’s basketball team has officially ben eliminated from playoff contention.

The T-Wolves on Saturday dropped a heartbreaking 61-60 loss at home to the one-win Toronto Varsity Blues and the defeat, combined with a York Lions win, ended Lakehead’s slim hopes of joining the postseason fray.

Toronto’s Alex Jaglall hit a three-pointer with 1:27 erase a 59-58 LU lead and Keira Chow ws unable to hit a potential game-winning bucket at the buzzer and the Thunderwolves came up short.

At 4-16 and just two games left, the Thunderwolves cannot catch the Lions (7-13), who hold down the 12th and final playoff spot.

Ally Burke scored 21 points to lead Lakehead and Kirpa Brar scored 13 off the bench. Jaglall had a dozen for Toronto (2-18).
