T-Wolves strong start propels them past Ridgebacks

OSHAWA – The Lakehead Thunderwolves women’s basketball team has a second win in the books.

Led by a dozen points from Paula Lopez, the T-Wolves trounced the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks 65-49 on the road on Friday night, snapping a five-game winless streak in the process.

Keira Chow had nine points for LU, who led 19-13 after one and 38-22 at the half.

Sophomore Kelly-Ann Coulombe put up 11 points and hauled in 11 boards and Sidney Crawford added eight points off the bench.

Amarachi Achioso led all scorers with 14 for UOIT, who slipped to 0-8 with the 16-point loss.

The T-Wolves (2-6) travel east on Highway 401 on Saturday to Kingston to take on the Queen’s Gaels.
