THUNDER BAY -- Alyssa Kreiner hopes to bring her high school star power to a gym she knows all too well.

The St. Ignatius Falcons star on Wednesday announced her intentions to play for the Lakehead Thunderwolves women's basketball team, where her father, Jon Kreiner, coached for 19 seasons before parting ways with the team prior to last season.

She's also the younger sister of Jared Kreiner, a sharpshooter with the Thunderwolves men's team.

Kreiner helped lead the Falcons to a SSSAA final in her senior year.

She was one of three recruits announced by the women's team on Tuesday. The team also announced the arrival of 5-foot-10 guard Neela Chanderdat of London, Ont. and six-foot forward Kelly-Ann Coulombe of Quebec.
