THUNDER BAY - The executive director of the symphony orchestra is stepping down.
The Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra announced Thursday that executive director Shannon Whidden, who has served in the role for the past two years, will be departing at tne end of April.
"Shannon has given us strong and decisive leadership over these years," said board of directors president Paul Inksetter in a statement. "He has guided us through a restructuring of our operations, setting us up for a secure future as we work our way through extremely challenging times."
The orchestra is at the beginning of a three-year plan to stabilize its financial situation, after facing pressures from increasing costs and declining revenue.
A search committee is being established to search for a replacement.
