THUNDER BAY — Police have arrested a 17-year-old male after two teenagers were allegedly robbed at knifepoint over the weekend.

Police, in a release issued on Monday, said they were called to the 1100 block of Arthur Street West, just after 1 a.m. on Sunday, having received a report of a robbery involving a weapon.

According to police, the male suspect approached two youths, waving a knife, and stole a bicycle.

Officers later located a male matching the description of the suspect, but the teen failed to comply with police orders and fled.

He was located nearby shortly afterwards, allegedly found trying to break into an Ottawa Street residence.

The accused was arrested and taken into custody.

The teen, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was charged with robbery, mischief, trespassing at night, resisting a peace office and breach of probation.

The accused appeared in court and has been remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
