THUNDER BAY — An early-afternoon fire damaged kitchen cabinets and left smoke damage throughout an apartment on Royston Court, off Camelot Street, on Monday.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue reported that no one was seriously hurt.
However, one of two occupants who tried to put the fire out with an extinguisher was treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation.
Firefighters responded to the alarm just before 1:00 p.m., and found heavy smoke coming out a basement window.
The entire building was already evacuated as the fire alarm had been activated.
Crews were able to knock the fire down quickly, and tenants were allowed to return to their apartments.
