Thousands expected to attend Teddy Bears Picnic on Tuesday

Last year the Teddy Bears Picnic saw around 2,500 people attend, Karen Kadolph said.

THUNDER BAY – The beloved Teddy Bears Picnic - which brings smiles to children and their furry friends - will return to Vickers Park on Tuesday, July 9.

Karen Kadolph, special event developer with the City of Thunder Bay, said the Teddy Bears Picnic has been around since the 1980, and is a very popular event.

“This event focuses on programming for young children and their families but is also inclusive of all members of the community.

"It’s our longest running event held in one of our oldest parks. Who doesn’t enjoy an afternoon with their favourite stuffed animal?”

This year, there will be a stage show with children’s author Lana Button, a science show with Science North, and musical guest Rodney Brown, Kadolph said.

“There are over 25 community groups/organizations providing information tables and programming, face painting, Boo Boo Bear Station, balloon animals, first responder display, a juggler, and more.”

Last year the Teddy Bears Picnic saw around 2,500 people attend, she said.

The event will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information on the Teddy Bears Picnic click here.
