THUNDER BAY -- An anonymous threat has closed Hammarskjold High School for the third time in a week.
Officials at Lakehead Public Schools say all efforts will be made to have the school open on Wednesday. Students who take the bus to school will be sent home by bus, while those without keys to their homes will be taken to Superior Collegiate and Vocational Institute.
Thunder Bay Police are on scene investigating the threat, which marks the sixth time this school year Hammarskjold has been closed because of an anonymous threat.
Hold-and-secures at nearby public board elementary schools have been put in place at Algonquin, C.D. Howe and Gron Morgan public schools.
However, the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board has issued a hold and secure for several of its nearby schools.
"As a precaution from a threat at a neighbouring school, the following schools are placed in hold-and-secure: St. Pius X School, Gateway, Bishop E.Q. Jennings Senior Elementary School, Corpus Christi Elementary School ànd St. Bernard Elementary School," the board tweeted.
Police say anyone with knowledge about the specifics of the threat can contact police directly at the special tip line at 684-1545.
Correction: Information provided by Lakehead Public School's Twitter account mistakenly indicated the hold-and-secures at nearby public elementary schools had been lifted.
