THUNDER BAY -- Three COVID-19 cases associated with St. James Public School have been confirmed by the Thunder Bay District Health Unit.

Lakehead Public Schools on Sunday said there is no evidence the virus has spread within the school setting, so it is not being declared an outbreak.

The board is working with the health unit to investigate potential exposures at the school or in any related settings, including bus transportation. Public health is working to identify close contacts, which include anyone in the same classroom or bus route.

Parents or guardians of students in the affected class will be contacted by a public health nurse and given further instructions. Impacted teachers, staff and visitors will also be contacted by public health officials. Anyone not considered a close contact will not be contacted.
