THUNDER BAY — For only the third time since the inception of the lottery two years ago, the jackpot in the Thunder Bay 50/50 draw has passed one million dollars.
The prize reached the milestone Tuesday afternoon, a full ten days before the March 31 draw date for the monthly lottery.
As of 3:30 pm, it stood at just over $1,000,000.
The Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation operates the fundraiser, the proceeds of which go toward purchasing equipment for the hospital as well as for hospitals in the region.
The largest prize to date, $2,530,500, was awarded in December 2022.
In December 2021 the jackpot passed $1 million for the first time, and totalled $2,340,000.
