GATINEAU, Que. – A Thunder Bay man was killed on Saturday, one of two men who died in a tragic skydiving accident near an airport in Gatineau, Que.

Greg Hay, 31, was one of the two victims in the incident at Gatineau’s Go Skydive. The other was a man in his 20s. Police have not identified either victim, but a death notice in Tuesday's Chronicle-Journal confirms that Hay died on Saturday in a tragic accident in Gatineau.

According to the Ottawa Citizen, police are working in conjunction with the coroner, as well as with Quebec's Commission des norms, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST), the organization that investigates workplace injuries and deaths.

TBNewswatch reached out to Gatineau police, who said the investigation is in its early stages.

"The investigation is still ongoing and it is too early to provide an update. That said, the accident is still the most likely hypothesis," said Andrée East, a communications officer with the department, reached via email.

According to a CBC Ottawa report, CNEST's preliminary investigation shows that the main parachute was jettisoned to allow the emergency parachute to open, but it appears not to have worked.
