Thunder Bay Police arrest man after loaded gun found at airport

A 32-year-old man from Geraldton was charged.

THUNDER BAY – Officers with the city’s police service were called to the airport on Wednesday at 8 p.m. due to a report of a loaded handgun. 

Police arrested a 32-year-old man from Geraldton after airport security found the weapon during a pre-board screening. 

Officers seized the weapon and confirmed it was loaded. 

The man is charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, careless storage of a firearm, carry concealed weapon, failure to comply with probation, and two counts of possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order.

He appeared in court on Thursday and has been remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
