THUNDER BAY — Allegedly driving when he shouldn’t have been has led to a number of drug charges against a 37 year-old man.
In a media release issued on Friday, city police said officers saw a known prohibited driver on Thunder Bay’s south side around noon the day before. The vehicle’s licence plates were allegedly registered to a different vehicle.
When entering a business on May Street South, officers arrested the suspect, police said.
They then allegedly found quantities of suspected cocaine and fentanyl, along with knives, weapons, cash and other items police said are consistent with drug trafficking.
The 37 year-old has been charged with two counts of prohibited driving and one count each of possessing cocaine and fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possessing property obtained by crime.
Police said the accused also faces a number of charges under the Highway Traffic Act.
He remains in custody with a future court date.
