THUNDER BAY — City police have laid 10 charges each against two teenagers from Toronto.

In a media release issued Thursday, police said they were called Wednesday afternoon to the 1100 block of Donald Street East about two people who were unwanted in a home and refusing to leave.

According to the release, officers were told the two had drugs and a firearm.

When multiple police units arrived, one suspect was seen leaving the home but was arrested after what police called a brief foot chase. A second suspect was allegedly found in the residence and arrested.

Police said officers found a loaded handgun in the home as well as cash, and suspected fentanyl and cocaine.

A 15-year-old and a 14-year-old each face a total of 10 charges including possessing fentanyl and cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, unlawfully being in a dwelling, possessing property obtained by crime under $5,000 and a litany of weapons-related charges.

The two accused appeared in court on Thursday, police said, and remain in custody with a future appearance date.

They cannot be identified due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
