THUNDER BAY — Ontario's Special Investigations Unit has charged a member of the Thunder Bay Police Service with assault causing bodily harm.

The SIU said the charge against Const. Marshall Moore is related to an incident that resulted in serious injuries to a 30-year-old man in the city in June 2023.

The officer is scheduled to appear in court next month.

A TBPS spokesperson said Moore is not currently on active duty.

No other information about the case was released by the SIU in a brief statement Tuesday.

It said that since the matter is before the courts, the agency will not provide further comment on the investigation.

The SIU is an independent organization responsible for investigating the conduct of police that may have resulted in death, serious injury, sexual assault and/or the discharge of a firearm at a person.

NOTE:  This story was updated after TBPS confirmed the officer is not on active duty
