THUNDER BAY – An officer with the Thunder Bay Police Service is facing criminal charges of theft under $5,000 and breach of trust, according to a news release from the police service on Thursday. Police said they conducted an internal investigation after receiving a complaint.
“Maintaining public confidence is a top priority and I thank those who displayed the courage to speak out,” said Thunder Bay Police Service Chief Darcy Fleury, in the written release.
Police said that the officer has been suspended with pay, in accordance with legislation.
Citing the fact that the matter is before the courts, police said they will not provide any further information.
