THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Public Library has decided to get in on the 50/50 craze.

Following in the footsteps of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation’s wildly successful 50/50 draw, the library has launched its own online lottery, with proceeds from the draw going to support library services.

Some of the targeted areas for improvement include enhancing library spaces, expanding programming, enriching collections and ensuring continued excelled in serving the Thunder Bay community, according to a TBPL release issued on Friday.

“The funds raised will help us make meaningful improvements to Library spaces, expand programming, and enrich collections that serve our entire community,” said Fran Duke, president of the Friends of the Thunder Bay Public Library.

Supporting the library improves the experience for thousands, said Adrien DiGiusceppe, a volunteer for the Friends of the Thunder Bay Public Library.

“Over 5,000 people pass through the doors of this institution every week. Supporting it really makes a difference to a lot of people,” DiGiusceppe said.

Tickets for the draw go on sale on Monday, Dec. 2 and can be purchased at www.friends5050.ca or by visiting any library branch during regular business hours.
