FORT FRANCES — A multi-vehicle collision that closed the Noden Causeway on Highway 11 has resulted in a charge being laid against a Thunder Bay resident.

OPP said the incident happened about 8:45 pm Tuesday and involved a total of three vehicles.

Police said the collision occurred after the driver of an SUV attempted to overtake a snowplow, and collided with another SUV as well as another vehicle.

Five people were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The entire causeway, which crosses Rainy Lake just east of Fort Frances, was closed for an extended period until police cleared the scene.

A 25-year-old man from Thunder Bay is charged with careless driving.

It is Newswatch policy not to name people facing criminal accusations when we are unlikely to follow the case to its conclusion in the courts.
