THUNDER BAY — All staff and vendors entering buildings owned by the District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board must now present proof of vaccination against COVID-19.
TBDSSAB introduced the vaccination requirement in September, but gave staff 45 days to provide proof of vaccination or a documented exemption.
As of the Nov. 5 deadline, 98 per cent have provided the required proof of full vaccination.
In a statement Monday, TBDSSAB said those who are not fully vaccinated will participate in an education session, and must regularly provide proof of negative antigen test results.
A policy requiring contractors, service providers and vendors to submit a vaccination attestation form was implemented on Oct. 15.
To perform any work or fulfill any contractual obligations necessitating on-site visits to TBDSSAB premises, contractors must submit attestation by Nov. 15.
The board said its screening policies comply with public health directives.
However, as an essential service provider working with vulnerable clients, it will not implement a mandatory vaccine policy for service users.
"The safety and wellbeing of staff, service users and communities is a top priority for TBDSSAB," said CAO Bill Bradica.
"Vaccination policies help us increase the safety of our offices and housing properties without creating barriers to services for the people we serve," he added.
