OWEN SOUND, Ont. – Thunder Bay’s Carter George is the No. 1-ranked North American goaltending prospect, according to NHL Central Scouting’s latest rankings.
The 17-year-old, who plays for the Ontario Hockey League’s Owen Sound Attack, has a 3.11 goals against average and a .912 save percentage in 2023-24, his second major junior campaign.
George was the 53rd overall pick by the Attack in the 2022 Priority Selection Draft and was named the OHL Midwest Division’s academic player of the month for November. He was also selected to play in the 2024 Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game, scheduled for Jan. 24 in Moncton, N.B.
He ranks ahead of American Nicholas Kempf and fellow OHLer Ryerson Leenders, who toils for the Mississauga Ice Dogs, and will also be in Moncton.
George is a graduate of the Thunder Bay Kings program and also spent part of last season with St. Mary’s of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League.
Boston University’s Macklin Celebrini is the No.1-ranked North American skater, while Finland’s Konsta Helenius tops the international skaters list.
Celebrini is expected to the be No. 1 pick.
