HALIFAX — Thunder Bay’s Karlee Everist is heading back home for the Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

Everist plays lead for Christina Black’s squad that on Sunday captured the Nova Scotia Women’s Curling Championship, downing Mackenzie Mitchell 6-4 in the provincial final.

Black, whose team also includes second Jenn Baxter and third Jill Brothers, an eight-time Scotties participant, will be making her third trip to the national women’s curling event in four years.

Everist was part of the Nova Scotia team that competed at the 2022 Scotties in Thunder Bay, but fans were not allowed in the stands for most of the event.

“I actually get to go back home for a Scottie’s, but this time for real,” Everist posted on Instagram, reacting her team’ triumph.

The Scottie’s opens at Fort William Gardens on Feb. 14.
