Thunder City Speedway is back with a full schedule (19 PHOTOS)

Last year Thunder City Speedway only held a few races at the end of summer

THUNDER BAY - Wednesday night Dirt Track racing is back this summer at Thunder City Speedway which held a grand opening invitational this weekend to welcome both drivers and racing fans back to the track.

“It’s a very nice facility. I love coming here every year. Last year it was awesome coming here as well,” said Tanner Williamson who won the A-mods feature on Saturday.

Last year Thunder City Speedway only held a few races at the end of summer and Williamson like many other drivers were excited to be back with a full schedule.

“Now that they’re having a full schedule this year in Thunder Bay at the Thunder City Speedway, I’d like to come here for more than just the specials,” he said. “But as of right now, I'll be here for mostly all the specials and the Wednesday night racing really makes for a great schedule.”

The track this weekend was a little dry and dusty; crews did their best to wet the track to try and keep the dust down but Williamson says the dusty track just gives drivers a chance to show off some skills.

“The track this weekend has been a lot different than the invitational last year, but I have really enjoyed this track,” he said. “The dry race track makes for a very competitive race against all drivers and it really brings the talent out of a certain few that can get to the front.”

This summer's race schedule can be found on the Rock94 website which partnered with Thunder City Speedway this year.
