THUNDER BAY – ThunderCon is returning to the city this fall.

Organizers on Thursday announced the pop culture extravaganza will be held on Sept. 21 and Sept. 22.

“We are so very excited to be heading into our ninth year,” said media director, Heather Dickson, in a release.

“We’re gradually growing our footprint in the community and are genuinely grateful for the community support we’ve received over the years. We’re learning what works and how to make those things even better. And this year, we’re going to change things up a bit in terms of guests and other programming.”

Last year, which featured the stars of Degrassi High, Stacie Mistysyn and Pat Mastroianni, set a record attendance for the event, held at the Canadian Lakehead Exhibition grounds.

More than 2,500 people attended.

“We are already working on plans to make 2024 even better,” said incoming chair Amanda Capar.

Though they didn’t reveal any secrets, organizers said they will be building on the success of last year’s event.

“We’re taking a cue from Pat and Stacie,” Dickson said.

“So we have another pair of guests coming that we know will delight attendees of all ages, as well as an actor from two movies that are absolutely iconic.”
