Thunderwolves edge Ryerson at home

THUNDER BAY -- The Lakehead Thunderwolves are back in the win column for the second time this season.

Geoff Dempster scored the winning goal 7:15 into the final period and Brock Aiken stood on his head, stopping 38 of 39 Ryerson shots to claim a 2-1 win.

The victory improved LU's record to 2-3-0.

Greg Smith had Lakehead's other tally, opening the scoring at 6:39 of the first.

Jacob Kamps had the lone goal for the Rams, evening the score seven minutes into the second.

Garrett Forest made 37 saves for Ryerson, including stopping Lakehead's Spencer Blackwell on a second-period penalty shot.

The two teams wrap up their three-game series on Saturday night at Fort William Gardens.
