OTTAWA – The Ottawa Gee Gees have been the class of university basketball this season, but the Lakehead Thunderwolves managed to give the nation’s No. 1 team a run for their money.

The Wolves, who lead 31-22 on the road after one quarter, trailed by three heading into the fourth, but ran out of steam in the fourth, outscored 30-17 by a determined Ottawa squad, who went on to down Lakehead 97-81.

Laoui Msambya led the T-Wolves with 22 points, while Harold Santacruz posted 17 points and grabbed a dozen rebounds for the double-double. Tyler Sagl chipped in 15 points.

Jacques-Melaine Guemeta had 25 for Ottawa to lead all scorers.

Lakehead (2-3) will take on No. 8 Carleton on Saturday night, a team that has uncharacteristically lost twice in its first four outings.
