Thunderwolves ousted by Bold in two straight

Kai Edmonds recorded a 28-save shutout to earn the TMU Bold a 3-0 win in Game 2 of their best-of-three second-round series.

TORONTO – Kai Edmonds and the Toronto Metropolitan Bold have swept the Lakehead Thunderwolves out of the OUA men’s hockey playoffs.

Edmonds stopped all 28 shots he faced to record the shutout and the Bold’s offence managed to put one past LU netminder Christian Cicigoi in all three period Saturday night, leaving TMU to a 3-0 win in Game 2 of their best-of-three OUA West semifinal.

The Bold took Game 1 3-2 in overtime on Wednesday night at Fort William Gardens.

Ian Martin gave the Bold a 1-0 lead with 66 seconds to go in the opening period. Liam Ross doubled the TMU advantage with one second left in the second and Joseph Ianniello put it away at 4:03 of the third.

The Bold will face Toronto in the Western Conference final. The Varsity Blues dispatched the Windsor Lancers 4-2 on Saturday night.
