Thunderwolves return to top 10

Monday marked the second time the Thunderwolves have entered the national top 10 this season.

THUNDER BAY -- The Lakehead Thunderwolves, buoyed by a pair of weekend home-court wins over the Toronto Metropolitan University Bold, are back in the national top 10. 

The T-Wolves edged the Bold 89-85 in a thrilling finish on Friday night, then rallied from three down at the half in Saturday`s rematch to pull out an 87-71 win, Chris Sagl scoring 29 points for the home side. 

Lakehead, who entered the top 10 late last year after stunning Carleton at home, had dropped to 13th in the rankings after losing a pair of exhibition games over the holidays to the No. 4 Winnipeg Wesmen and dropped an 81-56 decision at home to the No. 5 Ottawa Gee-Gees. 

The Thunderwolves are 12-2 during the OUA regular season. Their only losses have come to Queen`s and Ottawa, both top 10 teams. 

The Victoria Vikes are No. 1 in the nation, followed in the rankings by the University of British Columbia and the Calgary Dinos. 

The basketball team wasn't the only Lakehead team getting a littte top 10 love. The women's wrestling team was ranked 10th in the latest publish rankings, issued on Jan. 15.
