Thunderwolves stung by Concordia

Stingers score four times in the first en route to an 8-2 win.

MONTREAL – The Concordia Stingers came out flying and the Lakehead Thunderwolves are still feeling the pain.

The Stingers scored four times in an 8:20 stretch of the opening period on Saturday night and went on to thrash the Thunderwolves 8-2 at home.

Phelix Martineau, Loick Daigle, Kyle Havlena, Samuel Desgroseilliers lit the lamp behind Lakehead goaltender Max Wright in the opening period.

The Stingers added two goals in each of the final two periods to complete their offensive barrage.

Keighan Gerrie and Joe Mack, who connected on the power play with 25 seconds to go in the third, scored for Lakehead.  

Isiah Campbell and Mathieu Bizier had two goals each for Concordia.

Nikolas Hurtubise stopped 18 of 20 shots to pick up the with.

The Thunderwolves (7-5-1) will welcome two more tough opponents from the OUA East at home next weekend, when the McGill Redbirds and UQTR Patriotes visit Fort William Gardens.
